Nigeria is not a normal country- Inibehe Effiong

A human right lawyer and political activist, Inibehe Effiong as described the the happenings in the country as abnormal. The right activist said there is leadership deficit in the country and government at all levels are not functioning efficiently.

He made this known in a statement via his official Twitter handle.  The statement reads:

“Leaving Nigeria is both a prayer point and a lifetime ambition for many people. Most of us have already broken away from Nigeria in our minds.

“There’s leadership deficit in this country. What politicians are doing to Nigeria is terrible. They’re raping this country mercilessly.

“Those who have patience for gross failure of leadership can continue making excuses for the criminality of the political elites. Some of us are not interested in their silly excuses.

“Daily, Nigerians are being killed as if we are in a war. But are we not in a war? What worries me is how we endure the evils and atrocities that politicians are committing blatantly.

“We have an absentee President who is disconnected from the suffering of the citizens. Governors have declared war on the people. Local Government is basically castrated.

“The legislature and the judiciary are not functioning efficiently. Cases keep piling up in our courts. The justice system is slow, weak and susceptible to corruption and external influence. The parliament is practically merged with the executive arm of government.

“The police is killing people as if we are in a zoo. Human life means nothing to those paid with public funds to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians. No sane government will allow the police to continue murdering and oppressing citizens.

“Nigerians have surrendered their human and civil rights to people in power. We will rather pontificate about ethno-religious and partisan differences than unite to fight the parasitic political elites.

“Nigeria is not a normal country.
