Gang Rape of 15-year old: Four men charged to court in Ondo
Four men were arraigned on Thursday before a magistrate court sitting in Akure, Ondo State for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl and for also attempting to rape her mother.
The suspects, Ojo Damilola, Babalola Bodunde, Jimoh Fatai and Saliu Abdul were said to have committed the offences at the Ikare Akoko area of the State on June 28, 2020.
When the two- count charge of conspiracy and rape, were read to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty. Counsel to the four accused persons, J.O Adewale, pleaded with the court that the accused persons be granted bail.
The police prosecutor, Oniyere Taiwo, told the court that the mother of the victim pleaded on behalf of the accused, saying that two of the accused persons were not at the scene of the crime.
However, having listened to the positions and arguments of the parties the magistrate, Mrs Adepoju J.O ordered that accused persons be remanded at the in police custody as their offence is punishable under the section 218 of the Criminal Code, cap 7 vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria.
She adjourned the case until August 5, 2020 while case files be sent to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
