DSS Arrests Convener Of “Arewa Lives Matter”

Bilal Adamu Halilu, convener and leader of the “Arewa lives matter”, a northern-based group has been arrested by suspected officers of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Bilal Adamu Halilu was arrested over a planned protest by the northern-based group over the protests against recurrent killings in the north tagged “Stop the Killings and Attacks, Arewa Lives Matter“.

In a distress message sent to African Independent Television(AIT) media house, Bilal stated “DSS has detained me since morning. I was invited on Wednesday and going in to their office, they have created blockades around the Houses of Assembly, preventing us to exercise our fundamental right. They have no intention for discussion but to detain me”.

AIT has not made any commentary concerning the news as at the time of writing this report.

The Arewa lives matters group has also issued a statement notifying the public and the Nigerian Police of its intention to occupy all state houses of Assembly in the 19 northern states and the National Assembly, calling on Government to stop the incessant killings and attacks on Nigerians.
