Article: Tinubu vs Osinbajo

by Martins Wale Adedeji

The All Progressive Congress(APC) is about to have its local and loyalty Derby.
A showdown of the Master versus his Apprentice.
Bullion van versus Trader Moni.

Now that Professor Osinbajo has officially declared, what happens to Bola Ahmed Tinubu?

When asked about the declaration of his supposed political godson, the Former Governor of Lagos, who is also an All progressive Congress Presidential Aspirant responded with an indignant look “I don’t have any son old enough to declare for president”.
A lot of political analysts believe that Tinubu has a stronger political structure, mercenaries needed of a grassroots politician to win the election, many feels, he (Tinubu) is the only person worthy of giving Former vice president and People’s Democratic Party(PDP) presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar a tough contest.

Professor Yemi may not be a grassroots politician, his supporters argue that he is more of a technocrat, an intellectual who could be of help in stirring the ship of Nigeria to a greater heights.
A third angle view of it, posit that the Tinubu vs Osinbajo may just be a smokescreen. Chess games are ongoing at every corner, there is a need to study their movements as politicians may be funny, one may decide to step down or be forced to do so for the other, and the party might also decides to go through consensus means. Politics is like football, anything can happen.
However, if it doesn’t go the third angle, then we are set to experience history repeating itself. Remember chief S.L Akintola versus Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

One thing assured is that, with the forthcoming primary election, there’s going to be Bad blood and implosion of the APC.

With Bola, there’s always a trump card in check.
For Osinbajo, do not underestimate the power of incumbency.

See you at the Eagles Square for the primary election.
