Unemployment: Govt should stop banks from selling recharge cards- Doyin Okupe
The former special assistant (media & publicity) to president Olusegun Obasanjo and special assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan (public affairs), Mr Doyin Okupe has added his voice to the surge of unemployment in the country.
Okupe said, government must stop banks from selling recharge cards because such business can provide jobs for five million youths in the country which in turn will reduce unemployment.
He equally said banks should not be encouraged to kill small individual traders.
Okupe shares his thoughts on his official Twitter handle, today the 29th of July. The tweet reads:
“Govt must stop Banks from selling of RECHARGE cards. This business is worth about N10B/day & can provide jobs for 5m youths nationwide and reduce unemployment.
“Banks should not be in the retail business where they strangulate small individual traders.Govt must protect MSMEs”.
