Breaking: Akeredolu wins APC primary election

Incumbent Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has been declared winner of the Ondo state All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

The primary election committee which was chaired by Governor Yahya Bello of Kogi state was though not free from criticism as some party faithfuls and aspirants complained of being cheated and unfairly treated.

Three out of the 11 Governorship aspirants stepped down to support Akeredolu few hours to the poll, while Awodeyi Akinsehinwa, Bukola Adetula, Sola Iji, Olusola Oke, Jumoke Anifowoshe and Olayide Adelami took part in the exercise.

Akeredolu polled 2,458 votes to defeat eight other aspirants that participated in the primary.

Olusola Oke (SAN) came in a distant second with 262 votes followed by Isaac Kekemeke who garnered 19 votes.
The governor won in all the 18 local governments in the state.

In reaction to winning the primary election, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu tweeted “4+4 is the code for continuity. #GODWIN.”
