Lagos Residents Disregard Social Distancing, Despite Guidelines: Don Jazzy Reacts
The Lagos State government in collaboration with the federal government relaxed the total lockdown in the state, effective from today Monday the 4th of May, 2020. The total lockdown was imposed on the state owing to the growing cases of the Corona Virus in the state.
It has been established that one of the effective ways to prevent the multiplication of the virus is social distancing as there is no cure yet for the dreaded virus.
However, our reporters who went out to see the reactions of Lagos residents observed that social distance principle were not adhered to in many public places. It was observed that banks, markets, motor Parks and other public places were over crowded, thus exposing themselves to the virus, which has already infected 2558 persons and killed another 87.
This none adherence to the social distance principle has drawn the intention of a famous Nigerian music producer and singer, Don Jazzy. The artist said people should rather make financial transactions from their phone instead going to an over crowded banking environment and increasing the chances of getting exposed to the virus
In a post on Twitter, Don Jazzy said “See crowds and fights outside banks to enter the banking halls. My people, instead of going into the bank and increasing the chances of you getting exposed to the virus and also taking it back home to others…
.. You can do all of your banking services and transactions from your phone when you open a V bank account. Please protect yourself and your loved ones, download the V app and take charge of your banking. #BankwithVp”
According to Nigeria Centre for Decease Control (NCDC), Lagos State has the highest number (1107) of confirmed case of the Corona Virus in the country.
